Samba Protest in Ryde

Greenmount School are staging a Samba Protest through the town on Saturday 9th February at 11am. Samba players very welcome. Also any children from Ryde schools who took part in last years carnival - in costume would be lovely.
Protest to highlight all that the Ryde schools bring to the town at carnivals, arts parade etc, all would be lost! Also to protest at closing one of the most popular oversubscribed schools on the Island.
Update: The Samba Protest will now be at 11am, so that supporters can also attend the major rally in Shanklin at 2.30pm.
The Council is holding a series of public meetings across the Island where you will have a chance to hear a brief presentation, ask questions and share your views on the options.
Parents and anyone concerned about the proposed closure of Whippingham Primary have called a meeting on Monday 4th Feb from 8pm to discuss where we go from here.
Yarmouth will be holding their annual Pancake day event and races for the children of Yarmouth school.
After a very successful meeting with over 100 people in attendance yesterday, there will be a further meeting at St John’s CE Primary School, Sandown tonight (Wednesday 30th January) at 6.30pm, to discuss the next course of action following Saturday’s demonstration.
Hunnyhill Primary is holding an SOS Meeting tonight (Wednesday 30th Jan) at 6.30pm at Camphill Prison Officers Club, Quarry Hill, Camphill.
Councillor Alan Wells (Cabinet Member for Children and Young People) will be on the Alex Dyke Phone-In tomorrow (Monday).
We are holding a meeting at Gurnard Primary School on Monday 28th at 7.30pm.
