Option 4 Is Lost - 28 Councillors Vote Against A Referendum
28 Councillors have voted against Option 4 - A Referendum, allowing the PEOPLE to decide the future of Island Schools.
It would seem that these Councillors do not believe in democracy and will not listen to their constituents and the public.

Yes Mum 3, you may be right that this is a great opportunity to improve the standard of island education. If that is, it does not include the decimation of our schools and rural communities and the Council take consideration of parents wishes.
Option 5 was voted for as just an idea, NOT a plan. So they are still free to much as they like.

I agree with paleo and anon2. This is a great opportunity to improve the standard of island education.
I know there are headteachers out there who are embracing this change and have incredibly positive attitudes to it - even though they are resigned to the fact that they will have to reapply for their jobs with no guarantee they will get them back.
Now that really is putting the children first.

Make that 29 against, Garry Price was going to vote against option 4 and vote with Pugh on option 5.
He couldn’t be there tonight - away on business again!!
This is the second important vote he has missed due to Business.
THANKS GARRY
