Wall of Protest March - Full Details
| March 15, 2008 | ||
| 10:30 am | to | 12:00 pm |
As the official council vote draws near, one ultimate protest to dissuade those errant, indecisive councillors from making the wrong decision will take place on Saturday 15th March 2008.

Meeting at Church Litten Park, Newport, at 10.30 am, we will depart at 11am sharp, walking through the town and along the High Street towards County Hall. Once there we will present the Wall of Protest - showing the depth of emotion felt by each and every school present, towards the council’s irrational decision to slaughter so many of our superb island schools under the disguise of ‘educational improvement’!
Please continue reading the rest of this entry for full details including a map of the route. (Updated 06/03/08)

UPDATE - Friday 14th March 2008
The Police have asked that the march takes a very slight detour for safety reasons and as not to hinder access to any Emergency Services, so after approximately half an hour or so outside the offices, instead of going around the roundabout we will exit out of the High Street and do an immediate right (against the flow of traffic), past the fire station and back towards Church Litten Park. If the weather is on our side, please bring refreshments and join us for an afternoon of ‘protest in the park’, for as long as you wish, whilst displaying banners along the roadside for all to see!
We hope to see representatives from all concerned schools on the island and would urge co-ordinators for those wishing to take part to contact us by return to give an estimate of numbers attending to assist with police/highways organisation, etc.
The route has been measured to almost exactly one mile in total. If you are unable to manage this distance, please feel free to join us for as much or as little of the march as you feel able.
For the WALL OF PROTEST to take place, we would like each attending school to make as large a banner as possible (old sheet/length of fabric) approx. 8′ x 4′, with a pole at each end, displaying their school name/logo, why it should stay open, etc. When we are all assembled outside County Hall, we will present the wall with each school banner placed edge to edge in a long line with all protesters behind – an imposing sight!
We need to make this the biggest event yet, so please come along and bring everybody that you can!
Please Note (Updated 06/03/08):
The police have given the go-ahead for this march, but would like to make a few points to keep everybody safe:-
Please be aware that the march will not be stopping until we are outside County Hall.
Also the route does cross bus lanes which will remain in operation (if the buses can get through!)

Please note that instead of going around the roundabout (as pictured) we will exit out of the High Street and do an immediate right (against the flow of traffic), past the fire station and back towards Church Litten Park.

Please print out the march poster and display it wherever you can so that we can get loads of people there!

as a damaged pupil from the islands cock -ups when going comprehensive dont let them damage more pupils education and if they are closing carisbrooke high are they up grading west wight middle school to high school standard as pupils from the west wight are the only pupils on the island that have to travel 24 miles a day to get to school

From the standard of comments and websites, both punctuation and grammar as well as content, changing our schools’ structure is long overdue.
