Full Council Meeting 19th March 2008 - Councillors to Vote on 4 Options

Standards-Not-Tiers would like to thank everyone who braved the rain to march for what we all know is right.
I know that it will be very late in the day but would you all please please please make an extra special effort to come to County Hall on Wednesday evening. Fred Dineage - ITV Meridian presenter is coming over to do their news programme live from the reception area at County Hall and he will talk to any of us that would like to tell the rest of the South what we think of the Council…no obscenities though!
The BBC are also planning to do the same although I don’t know who they are sending. This is a chance for all of us to make our voices heard before the council rise rough-shod over the democratic process.
Please, one last effort. All the group leaders should be there and we are planning to ask some very awkward questions of the council. This will be a historic moment. We must not let Pugh & Co think we have given up…no matter what happens it’s not over!

Aside from councillors now admitting they misunderstood the PCP, how do politicians and public servants come up with such hare-brained schemes? You should look at your title, especially ‘public servants’ and work for those you serve. In short, cut expenditure at every opportunity, or improve services for no extra cost, just like every business, and household, has to.
It is NOT your money you are playing with, it is ours. This whole sham is an ill-thought-out, money wasting effort. You are as bad as those in Westminster and should be thoroughly ashamed.
The ballot-box beckons for politicians, but surgery is needed to remove inefficient and incapable public servants, of whom there appear to to far too many.

No 1,
Geoffrey,
What more is to be said?
I applaud you……………..my sentiments entirely…………….any Councillor who votes through this undemocratic process should bow their head in shame, for they are giving a sentence of uncertainty to all of the children within the school system and those yet to join it, whether yet born or not………shame on you, for not having the backbone to stand up before this point and shame on you for voting in a process that is flawed and you know that you will vote it in, come 6.00pm on Wednesday, you will all doff your caps and vote as you have been told to…………………..IT’S A SAD DAY…………………………..Prove all of your doubters wrong and if you have one last ounce of dignity within you vote against this madness………..I am not a radical or of any political persuasion, I am just a Parent who dearly loves my Children and wants the best for them.
What more can I say but please listen to your heart and vote accordingly.
Just a Parent.

I totally agree with the two previous posts. This is it guys, our final chance. Please listen to us councillors. Understand what you are about to do. This is serious, so very serious, scary and frightening. More so for our helpless children who wait to be upheaved from there lovely schools, and then what, a primary education working in a hut! Oh joy.
I know I am not the only one to say it, but I will be home schooling my children if this goes ahead. The unsettled moving around back and forth will cause an educational dip in there learning, if they are at home with me they will at least be in a safe and caring environment, they will feel settled at home, and can focus on there learning once more.
Please do the right thing for all the children on the Isle of Wight, and save there high achieving primary schools, run by teachers who have worked so hard.

calling all gmb members wether you are school staff or not show the pupils and staff your support and meet me outside county hall. we as a union are in favour of a 4 option nomatter its form ,the island is unique lets keep it that way a 2 tier system could work but it needs to be the right one , the councils options are nogood the end results will be worse we will still have poor post14 results but our top 10% in primarys will nosedive and on top of that staff will lose their jobs.
Good luck see you there..
